Some of you may have heard about the Rhyme-Time Rhyme Dictionary. It’s a new kind of rhyme dictionary which uses a completely new classification system. It organises rhyme imperfectly as well as perfectly. No other kind does this yet. I’ll give you a demonstration as to how it works.

Traditional rhyme dictionaries only list words together if they rhyme perfectly. Take the word ‘dagger’ for example. In your traditional rhyme dictionary the only words listed with ‘dagger’ would be:-

bragger, gagger, hager, Jagger, magger, pager, stagger, swagger, wagar,

You can test this out at http://www.rhymezone.com/. Just type ‘dagger’ in the search field and see what you get.’

But what about words such as ‘blacker’ and ‘flatter’, what about ‘madder’ and ‘sapper’, what about ‘stammer’ and ‘batter’? The list goes on. The middle letters may be different, but they can all still be rhymed with the word ‘dagger’ when writing rap lyrics yet they aren’t included.

Now lets now have a look at what words you’ll find listed in the Rhyme-Time Rhyme Dictionary that rhyme with the word ‘dagger’:-

Abba, blabber, crabber, dabber, jabber, Jabba, slabber, backer, cracker, Dakar, Lacquer, knacker, packer, slacker, smacker, stacker, tracker, adder, bladder, ladder, madder, chaffer, gaffer, Jaffa, Staffer, gather, blather, bragger, dagger, gagger, Jagger, nagger, stagger, swagger, badger, cadger, gamma, grammar, hammer, clamber, glamour, mamma, shammer, stammer, Anna, banner, canner, Hannah, manner, manor, nana, Planner, spanner, scanner, tanner, kappa, clapper, dapper, flapper, grappa, nappa, wrapper, rapper, sapper, snapper, strapper, trapper, gasser, NASA, passer, Asher, dasher, flasher, masher, rasher, splasher, smasher, thrasher, attar, batter, chatter, hatter, latter, clatter, flatter, matter, natter, platter, scatter, splatter, spatter, ratter, tatter, catcher, stature, Thatcher, scratcher, lazar, Gaza, plaza, dabbler, gabbler, actor, factor, tractor, after, laughter, grafter, rafter, wafter, haggler, straggler, magma, alpha, amber, camber, clamber, mamba, samba, camper, clamper, hamper, pamper, tamper, Tampa, anchor, banker, canker, hanker, flanker, spanker, ranker, tanker, dander, panda, pander, rambler, scrambler, banger, hangar, hanger, clanger, anger, Bangor, clangour, answer, dancer, lancer, banter, canter, manta, Santa, planter, panzer, stanza, panther, captor, chapter, raptor, plasma, jasper, aster, Pasta, raster, battler, rattler, prattler, tattler, quatre, Mantra,

That’s nearly one hundred and fifty words! About ten times as many as your normal rhyme dictionary would get you

Any skilful emcee knows the importance of rhyming longer syllable words together so with that in my mind let’s have a look words three syllables in length. Again go to http://www.rhymezone.com/ but this time type ‘melody’, ‘therapy’ or ‘energy’ into the search field. These are the words you get:-

melody- none
therapy- none (apart from some really long words which basically have therapy stuck on the end!)
energy- cenergy

Hmmm pretty useless really for our purposes isn’t it! Now lets see what words are listed in the Rhyme-Time Rhyme Dictionary that rhyme with these words:-

remedy, Kennedy, melody, jeopardy, enemy, sesame, destiny, ebony, Bethany, felony, lemony, therapy, entropy, enury, lechery, treachery, century, beggary, Gregory, celery, memory, peppery, treasury, feathery, heathery, every, estuary, hennery, venery, sensory, embassy, legacy, jealousy, heresy, leprosy, ecstasy, enmity, equity, velvety, terribly, heavenly, clemency, tenancy, pregnancy, weaponry, elderly, specially, leisurely, westerly, Weatherly, Beverly, registry, chemistry, dentistry, presently, pedantry, tennantry, errantry, pleasantry,

So while your average rhyme dictionary gets you one word if you’re lucky, The Rhyme-Time Rhyme Dictionary gets you sixty words. That’s sixty times as many words. Coming up with multis is now a breeze!

The thing about rap lyrics is that they’re spoken faster than normal poetry. The rhymes therefore don’t need to be perfect in order for them rhyme. Traditional rhyme dictionaries list words together only if they do rhyme perfectly, but our system doesn’t work like that. Our system is designed with rappers and emcees in mind, people like you.

It also allows you to come up with huge amounts of multis within minutes….

Take the compound rhyming phrase ‘bread baking’. All you do is put each words relevant section side by side then you just start picking out combinations that work. I got these within five minutes:

bread baking, head shaking, neck bracing, check mating, men raping, dress making, lead gating, red taping, dread dating, press slating, leg breaking, feds chasing, bet taking, jet blazing, hen grazing, Ben’s savings, best placing, gem facing, flesh flaking,

Here’s another example of what the Rhyme-Time Rhyme Dictionary can do- I repeated the process, but used the rhyming phrase ‘quick memory’ instead. The results are as followed:

swiss remedy, hip therapy, this century, his destiny, kids weaponry, Ric’s enemy, sick melody, spit seventy, give pleasantly, big felony, mix ecstasy, tinned celery, quick memory, in jeopardy, sprint leisurely,

This again took little over five minutes. Just think how useful this Rhyme Dictionary will be next time you get writing some rap lyrics!

Learning to rhyme has significant benefits for children. For instance, rhyming helps improve auditory skills, enhance vocabulary and improve speech. Rhyming also enables children to recognize word families, an important skill for beginning readers. Below are three simple ways to teach kids to rhyme. Before you begin, be sure to tell children what rhyming words are. Rhyming words are words that have the same ending sound, but different beginning sounds.

1. Read Nursery Rhymes. Reading nursery rhymes to children is a great way to teach kids to rhyme. Start with simple nursery rhymes and as you read the rhymes, ask children to select the rhyming words. For instance, “Which words in Jack and Jill went up the hill rhyme?”

2. Play the Rhyming Game. If you’re a parent, this game is a fun and educational way to pass time whether you’re on a road trip or waiting at the doctor’s office. Tell your child that you are going to play the rhyming game. For example, “Let’s play this game. This is how you play. First, I’ll say a word. Then you’ll say a word that rhymes!” After you explain the game, point to an object and say the word, i.e., “car” and wait for your child to say a word that rhymes, like “star” or “jar.”

If you’re an elementary school teacher, this game can be adapted for the classroom using a beanbag. Arrange your students in a circle. Tell your students that you are going to play the rhyming game. For example, “Let’s play this game. This is how you play. First, I’ll say a word and then I’ll throw the beanbag to Mark. When Mark catches the beanbag, he’ll say a word that rhymes. Then Mark will throw the beanbag to Amy. When Amy catches the beanbag, she’ll say a word that rhymes.” Supervise students as they throw the beanbag around the circle.

3. Use Rhyming Worksheets. Rhyming worksheets are an excellent way to teach kids to rhyme. As a teacher, I suggest hands-on worksheets because they involve students in the learning process. My students enjoy cutting and pasting. Not only is it a fun way to get students involved, but it’s a great way to build fine motor skills!

Whether you’re a parent or an elementary school teacher, teaching children to rhyme doesn’t have to be difficult. Reading nursery rhymes, playing the Rhyming Game and using rhyming worksheets are all fun ways to teach kids to rhyme!

It is often considered a single and a boring book would not attract the interest of a child as in the case of a book that is filled with colorful pictures. In the same way, most children tend to remember rhymes and then make a child learn as a nursery rhyme can be an effective strategy to make the child learn a particular thing easily.

In many cases, we often observed that children around the world often tend to keep an object related to their studies for a short period of time if the child is not interested in the subject. If rhymes, most children are fond of rhyme, and thus allowing them to discover the form of rhymes can help you know about them effectively.

If your child goes through his course of study at an English medium school and in the nursery division, so I guess you might face problems in making him learn the rhyme appropriate because it is obvious that it tends to forget the rhyme every time you make him learn the rhyme. If you are getting annoyed by the fact that your child can not even remember a simple rhyme, so I must tell you that no child can ever remember one thing if you do not what is interesting for your child. For this reason, most children psychologists often suggest that if you make you child to learn and memorize, then you need to make things interesting for him.

These nursery rhymes related sites also have several other facilities that you will never find in a school or even in a book. First, most of these sites have the possibility of two sound and visual effects and the availability rhyme. What I mean is that there are some websites which maintain a collection of nursery rhymes for children, and children can easily hear the rhyme from the site. This assistance is available May 1 audio website and it allows the child to remember the rhyme effectively for a period of time alone. In addition, in some cases, rhymes also a visual attached to them to return the child to visualize and realize that the rhyme has the means. In this way, children can easily understand the rhyme and it makes things easier for him. The child can easily remember the rhymes for children and the child can keep the rhyme for days, sometimes for over a month. Web sites generally do not charge money to listen to the rhyme. However, there are several sites that pay a certain sum of money for listening and downloading rhyme with sound and visual effects.

However, a problem of your child remember nursery rhymes he had learned in the classroom or in his house is confronted by many as a parent. The solution for making your children learn nursery rhymes at once and to keep the rhyme for a longer period of time, to make him learn nursery rhymes in the form of a song. The child remembers the rhyme if you sing it for him and he would retain the rhyme for a longer period if you sing the rhyme to him rather than simply reading the book.

Article by Nate Patt

Most people sometimes write poems on during their free time or on a special occasion. But even more people have poems stored away in old notebooks from their high school or college days. Whatever the case those poems are often forgotten and never get read by anyone other than the person that wrote it. Well for those people the emergence of the internet and with its powerful resources and connection abilities, those poetry writers can be re inspired to write poems again and even have their old poems read by other people.

Since social community websites have soared with popularity and dominance over the internet, online poetry communities have found their way into the mix. Some allow you to publish poems, read poems, connect with other poets, enter free cash prize poetry contests, comment on poems and many other activities that involve poetry. This has been very beneficial to poets who without such great resources would have given up writing poetry.

Poetry can at great benefits to living a healthy life. Two main areas it can greatly help in overcoming stress and depression. Stress and depression are emotions that show in your face and can cause unnecessary illnesses to your body. We all go through it. Through writing poetry I’ve found it to help me deal with stress and depression. Let’s say I had a bad day at work. Something or someone has got me stressed or depressed. Instead of going back home and letting it settle inside me I would write a poem about it. This allows me to conquer those emotions. Only then could I heal and get passed them. As you are writing the poem you will already start to feel better. The more poems you write the better your poetry will help you because you’ll be able to go back and read your old poems which will re-inspire you to deal with current stress or depression state. Your poems don’t have to be really creative or rhyme well they just need to describe how you are feeling and or why you are feeling this way So give poetry a try and see how it will help you deal with stress and depressions.

Poetry is simply one of the best creative forms of writing when it comes to expressing yourself. There are many online poetry communities out there on the web.

Article by Max Gaucho

Over the years there have been many occasions when I have heard
somebody ranting about the superiority of prose, particularly fiction,
over poetry. By contrast, rarely have I heard anyone suggesting the
poetry is superior to fictional prose. Does this say something about
the supporters of one as opposed to those of the other? Is there an
underlying difference between fans on prose and fans of poetry, and
are fans of poetry, as an audience, more mature and open-minded?

I would venture to say there may be a little of this involved, but
only a very little. My hunch is this: that people who value poetry
will, by and large, value prose too as those who enjoy and are able to
read poetry will also have the ability to enjoy and read prose. By
contrast there is a distinct possibility that those who enjoy prose
will not, by necessity, understand poetry. Poetry and prose are
entirely different breeds of art which are like largely only in that
they share the same tools.

I have heard it said that poetry is for those who cannot write
sustained prose, and that the real skill of an author is in writing at
length while retaining depth and keeping the reader interested.
However, I would immediately like to interject on this point. For
whoever holds any such opinion is missing something of dazzling
clarity: what kind of prose writer is able to write at length in a
manner or style akin to most poetry?

Poetrys aim is different to that of prose, and in this difference is
in no way lesser to the skill of writing prose. Most poems want to
convey with great weight a particular issue in a way which calls for
the readers close attention. It is this attention which grants the
poem a great emotional force without a huge narrative to underpin it.

The answer to the question: is prose superior to poetry? is that
prose and poetry are two distinct entities which are relatively
incomparable but which both require degrees of astuteness and skill in
their authors if they are to be successful. Writers of poetry are just
as skilled as writers of prose, and its worth remembering that many
poets are also successful authors (such as Leonard Cohen). As such,
the view that a prose author is superior to one of poetry says more
about the knowledge and capacities of the one holding the view than it
does about any real differences between the two literary forms.

Article by Leona Shankle

© 2009 by Leona G. Shankle

Writing poetry is a wonderful outlet for expressing ideas. Writing poetry is the highest, noblest, art form; and poets are those who can feel what can be beautifully expressed as in poetry, as poems. It involves not just scribbling in a notebook, but also undertaking a way of life, one in which you value being creative and sensitive.

Writing poetry is not always an easy job but, it could be your cup of tea. Writing poetry tips are helpful guidelines, but not the rule of thumb, they’re not etched in stone – as a poet you set your own rules. Writing poetry has always been about emotion; thrilling, bitterness and even humorous. It is like jumping off a high dive at the deep end of the pool, exhilarating.

Poetry can be used to convey ideas, information and feelings but, above all, it is a great means of entertainment. Poetry is the poetic, beautiful, expression of the poet’s passion – in poetry poets express passions sensibly and beautifully.

Poetry is meant for the ear; listen to the sounds the words make. Poetry in rhyme sounds more pleasing – rhyme adds to its beauty. Why not ‘cash in’ on that in your poetry. Poetry can be as complicated or as frivolous as possible, it’s all up to the author. Poetry is food for thought and for the soul. All food has its ingredients and, so does poetry.

Writing is a passion of mine that brings relief. Writing styles, subject matter and even childhood memories influence a lot of our choices. Writing in “free verse” does not excuse the poet’s obligation to please the ear though. Writing, reading and falling in love with poetry are all processes.

Writing has always been a form of self therapy, an expression of emotions too intense to keep inside, an expression of thoughts, feelings, and meanings. Writing about painful subjects is also a great way to deal with that pain, write it out. If it’s too painful to share, keep it for yourself. But, do write it out and feel the healing power of putting those words on paper.

Be yourself when you are writing poetry. Explore your different sides through your poetry let the different facets of your personality take center stage. Be happy writing poetry, this is your time to expand and write whatever comes into your mind. When nothing comes to mind –start writing, very fast –any word, a phrase or simply a sentence or two that pops into your mind.

Try using writing poetry as an excuse not to do other things. Yes, that’s right, if you’re not already doing so, start writing poetry now. This is the perfect time to embark on a new adventure, so why not seriously consider writing poetry and sharing it with others this year.

Article by Johnny Sogaard

This is one of many drafts written on this very subject. Each one tackles a peculiar aspect of wedding poems. According to my dad, wedding poems are quite a tradition in his family. Wedding invitation poems, poems read during during the bridal shower, the wedding dinner, and the actual wedding ceremony, and many other examples of wedding poetry go back generations in his family. After all, many of them are wordsmiths. Within my father’s family line, there are literally dozens of fairly well-known poets and authors. That these people can compose a wedding poem is no surprise to anyone who has read their works. They are some pretty talented people. When it was time for me to get married, however, I sort of shrugged when confronted with the idea of wedding poems. I wasn’t particularly interested. To tell you the truth, I was a little bit insecure. My poetry wasn’t bad, but compared to some of the poems that had come out of my father’s family, it wasn’t very good either. I knew that I wasn’t a talented writer, and had grown accustomed to that fact, but even so it felt like a shame to have to showcase my mediocre wedding poem in front of hundreds of guests.

If you have completely read through the first half of this essay, the second part will be a snap to understand. Nonetheless, I knew that it was important to my father. Let’s face it weddings are as much for the parents as they are for the people getting married. A wedding poem was something that was expected of me, and I wanted to do my dad proud. I took a lot of time to come up with the perfect poetry. As a matter of fact, it took me months. I thought about wedding poems, looked at wedding poetry on line, bought a few collections of poetry, and basically found inspiration whenever I could. I went through dozens and dozens of drafts, but I finally came up with something that I really liked. Although I wanted to show my wedding poems to my dad ahead of time, I decided to keep them secret. This was the traditional way of doing it, after all. When it came time to read my poem in front of the guests, I got very nervous. It took me a moment, but I steadied myself and got ready to read. When I was finally finished, there was a hush over the room. Then people applauded. Apparently, even average writers can come up with good wedding poems If they put enough work into it. The key is sincerity and good taste. I have both of those qualities in abundance. If we start putting this information together about wedding poems, it begins to form the main thought.

What Everyone Should Know About Friendship Poems

Poems have been written about nearly every topic under the sun, and next to love and death, friendship poems are among the most commonly read, written, and shared in the world. Unfortunately, a beautiful poem written in friendship can often result in a misunderstanding when it sounds very much like a love poem.

Regardless of the confusion, some of the world’s greatest poets have penned friendship poems for any number of their closest acquaintances, professional colleagues or distant relatives. When a poet feels close to someone, a natural response is to write a poem.

What Makes A Friendship Poem Special?

This is where confusion can often arise when describing the difference between a friendship poem and a love poem. Love poetry is most often the result of an extreme, powerful emotion, a written expression of the almost intangible sensation of love. On the other hand, friendship poems are more subdued, relying on personal references and expressions of caring. The difference is similar to what kind of gift you would buy for a girlfriend or boyfriend as opposed to a roommate or childhood buddy. One would hope they are not the same gift.

Great Friendship Poems

Great poets in history have made a habit of penning verses for each other in response to any number of personal relationships. It was their way of paying respect to their closest friends. If someone might buy a gift for a friend today, Shakespeare would have written that person a sonnet. Which is something Shakespeare did do on occasion. Sonnet 104, for example, speaks to a close friend with whom he treasures the three summers they spent together. The poem reads similar to many of his love sonnets, and in fact has been debated for some time as many believe it is in fact a love poem.

Friendship Poems as Metaphor

Other poets used friendship as a metaphor, comparing the closeness of a friend to any number of other experiences. For example, in Emily Dickinson’s “The Soul Unto Itself” she wrote:

The Soul unto itself
Is an imperial friend –
Or the most agonizing Spy –
An Enemy – could send –

Secure against its own –
No treason it can fear –
Itself – its Sovereign – of itself
The Soul should stand in Awe –

She is not writing about a close friend, but her own soul and the numerous masks it takes on. However, the same could be said about a close friend who is never quite as disarmed as we would like to believe.

Defining Friendship With a Poem

But then there are those poets who wrote friendship poems solely ruminating on the nature of friendship. Ralph Waldo Emerson can be attributed for dozens of memorable quotes about what it means to be a friend and wrote numerous friendship poems in turn. One of his most famous was the short but poignant “Glory of Friendship” which states:

The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand,
nor the kindly smile nor the joy of companionship;
it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when
he discovers that someone else believes in him and is
willing to trust him.

He went on to write many other poems, such as the simply titled “Friendship” and the numerous letters he wrote to Thomas Carlyle, detailing his deep thoughts on the subject and the source for many of his works.

Friendship Poems Today

Poetry today does not ruminate nearly as much on friendship as it does on love, and the closeness of any two friends is admittedly not as defined as it once was. However, if you have ever felt the urge or desire to tell your friend what their friendship means to you, you have an inkling of what the great poets such as Emerson experienced when they sat down to pen their poems, and what better way to understand friendship poems than that.

Article by Thomas Bjorn

Here are the most pertinent instructions for selecting right approach for writing extremely good pieces of writing on Internet. You have to put up your articles on sale in case you write for money. You must understand your business better than others who are not required to sell their writings. Our focus here will be on skills needed for writing articles instead of qualities required for selling them.

The Foremost Rule You should write according to the taste of your intended reader, not according to your own personal taste. This means that you need to explore, identify, and target your message towards specific readers with specific interests. For instance, in an article on the financial market you can’t target grandmothers looking for designs of knitting. You need to write your message according to the comprehension of target readers. No one will understand even correct stuff until and unless it is presented properly.

Keep in mind that people who browse the Internet are impatient. They click off the material once they read something that is not pertinent to their cause, and they only linger on an article that they consider important and pleasing.

Before you even put pen to paper, ask yourself this important question: Who are your readers? You will be able to make a decision about type of article you need to write by answering this question. The article may be of any kind such as technical, marketing or philosophical, all which are dissimilar in nature, which is why you must correctly identify your target audience.

In addition to identifying your intended readers, you must also ask yourself another question: Why do you wish to produce this piece of writing? In answering this question, you are really narrowing your approach to writing your article in the first place.

The Main Approaches The articles on the Internet can be classified into four wide approaches:

- Writing for Selling: Marketing articles often sell commodities or services to woo readers to a web site. The fast-paced speed of these articles are immediately obvious and, for this reason, the content of marketing remains small in size. Keywords are important for selling because they invite readers performing general word searches.

- Technical Writing: This type of writing requires actual facts. The technical aspect is well understood with diagrams. Even if the writing lacks visual aids, descriptions and writing is precise so as to avoid misunderstanding. If you use highly technical words, be aware that a common man would find it difficult to understand. And if the article has more of the style, the people with technical expertise will find it without technical details.

- Trendy Writing: The extensive use of blogs in the recent times has made this writing very popular. The main aspects here are to make the content more appealing and entertaining. This kind of writing should still try to be as straightforward as possible, as well as short and full of quick points. Trendy writing tends to lack details and arguments.

- Intellectual Writing: This writing requires detailed description of a particular field and often makes references from popular books. Intellectual writing is aimed at contributing to a field of study. However, it does not necessarily have to be academic in nature. Good examples of intellectual writing are book reviews and editorial columns.

The Internet is the most popular media for sharing the information and if used in an efficient manner, it can work wonders for you.
